The Blatz Brewing Company grew out of John Braun’s City Brewery, one of Milwaukee’s pioneer breweries, first established as the Cedar Brewery in 1846 on the bluffs east of the Milwaukee River, near the corner of Main and Division (now Broadway and Juneau).
