Victor Li is a Hong Kong businessman, who has business interests in Canada. He serves as the Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Cheung Kong (Holdings) Limited. Li immigrated to Canada to work with investment bank Wood Gundy Incorporated, which was later acquired by CIBC. Today, he has an estimated net worth of $992 million, and is currently ranked as one of the wealthiest people in Canada.
Besides serving as the Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Cheung Kong (Holdings) Limited, Victor Li also holds various other positions including Chairman of Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings Limited, Chairman of CK Life Sciences Int’l, (Holdings) Inc, Executive Director of Hong Kong Electric Holdings Limited, Vice-Chairman of Hutchison Whampoa Limited and Director of The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited. Li is also an investor in Air Canada.
Victor Li was born on August 1, 1964 as the eldest son of business tycoon Li Ka-shing. He is the elder brother of Richard Li, who is also a very financially successful person in Hong Kong. In 1996, Victor Li was kidnapped and was later released after a reported ransom of HK$1Billion was paid. Li holds a M.SC degree in Structural Engineering and a B.SC degree in Civil Engineering from Stanford University.
