Thomas Edison Net Worth $12 Million

Thomas Alva Edison was an American inventor that developed many devices that changed how we lived in the 20th century, like the phonograph, the first motion picture camera patented in the United States, and a long-lasting, more practical version of the already invented light bulb. He also was one of the first inventors to practice the ideals of mass production, industrialization and large-scale teamwork to the method of invention.

Edison is the 4th most prolific inventor in American history, with 1,093 US patents under his belt. But the impacts of Thomas Edison’s inventions were more significant than the number of his patents; he didn’t only invent things, his established new industries with his inventions and changed the entire world, and electric light, power utilities, sound recording and motion pictures; these are things we still use today. His inventions led to mass communication and, specifically, telecommunications. His work in these fields was outstanding. He even created a system of electric-power generation and distribution to American factories, businesses and homes, which consequently led to the development of the modern industrialized world. His business sense, paired with his scientific wit, made him one of the richest inventors, and because he was entrepreneur and an inventor, he has a net worth of $12 million (in 2013).
