The Fourlis Family

The family’s fortunes began to rise in 1950 after The Second World War when Anastalos Fourlis began to import and sell electrical appliances from Germany. Shortly after this, three of his brothers joined the business. Today, the family is the official representative for IKEA which is a Swedish company dealing in furniture. Their duties extend from Greece to Cyprus and Bulgaria. The family also owns the franchise chain Intersport that deals in sports rental equipment. Fourlis are wholesale agents for a number of big brand electrical appliance companies in Greece and Romania. The children of the three brothers: Vasilis, Alexandros, Dafny and Lena Fourlis own over 35% of the Fourlis shares and the family has a net worth of $212million.
