Terry Gou is a Taiwanese business tycoon who has an estimated net worth of $5.5 billion. He is the founder and Chairman of Foxconn which manufactures electronics contractually for other companies such as Apple Inc.

It is the largest manufacturing services company (electronics) in the world. It has factories in many countries including Mainland China employing more than 1.2 million people.  The company is also known as Hon Hai. 

Terry founded Hon Hai or Foxconn in 1974 with startup money of $7500 and 10 workers only. The golden period started in 1980 when an order came from Atari to manufacture connectors to the joystick of the video game console.

In 1988 the first factory opened in Shenzen and till today it is the largest factory of his company. The company got further orders from giants like Compaq, HP & IBM. Now, as stated earlier, it manufactures for Apple and produce gadgets like iPad, iPhone & Kindle. 

Terry now owns 13% of this public company. The company is destined for further growth as towards the end of 2013 he announced plans to invest $40 million in a plant in Pennsylvania.

On the personal front, Terry has a son and a daughter from his first wife. His 1st wife died of breast cancer and he then married a choreographer in 2008. He now resides with his wife in Taipei.
