Born on February 7th 1949, Tadashi Yanai is presently the wealthiest man in Japan. He studied Economics at Waseda University. Having inherited his father’s suiting store, in 1984 he restructured it to create his first clothing store, “Uniqlo” based in  Hiroshima.

 It soon expanded Internationally. He is currently the CEO of Fast Retailing, the parent company of Uniqlo and other companies it has acquired such as Theory and Helmut Lang. In 2011, Yanai donated over $12 Million toward the relief efforts following Japan’s earthquake and Tsunami devastation. He is also a winner of the International Retailer of the Year Award.
