Swedish House Mafia was a three-member group that hailed from Sweden. The dance trio split up in 2012 to pursue their individual interests. The trio comprised of DJs and producers Sebastian Ingrosso, Steve Angello, and Axwell. The defunct group was formed in 2008 and in its lifespan has been described as the modern face of progressive house music.
The super group was formed by childhood friends Steve and Sebastian. Axwell later joined after a chance meeting. Their first release as Swedish House Mafia immediately achieved international success. Their subsequent releases were also massive hits. Together, they have collaborated with several international artistes including Pharell, Tinie Tempah and Laidback Luke. They also wrote and produced the soundtrack for the film Monsters University.
All members of the trio have been listed on the DJ Magazine Top 100 DJ Poll in 2011 with Axwell ranking as 12th, Angello was 23rd while Ingrosso was 26th. They are also known for their charitable activities including performing at a benefit rave for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. 100% of the earnings went to relief activities. Their massive individual and collective successes have placed their fortune at $15 million.
