Stefan Quandt is the 76th richest person in the world with an estimated net worth of $11.9 billion. By profession he is an engineer and an industrialist and holds a 17.4% stake in BMW which is a renowned automobile manufacturing company. He acquired the share in BMW from his father who had saved this company from confirmed bankruptcy in 1959. He also inherited holdings in other companies from his father which basically runs through Delton AG.

At present Stefan Quandt is on supervisory board of BMW and till 2006 he also owned 20% stake in a digital security company called Gemplus International. In 2012 he bought Solarwatt, the solar module maker which was on the verge of bankruptcy and made heavy investments along with other established companies to buy BHF Bank for $500 million. This is a noteworthy investment as it is a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank.
Stefan Quandt graduated from University of Karlsruhe with an Engineering degree and started his professional career with a job in a consulting firm in Munich. In the 1990s he joined the Datacard Group in Hong Kong in the position of marketing manger. In 2005 he married a software engineer and they have a daughter who was born on the same year. Stefan prefers to keep a low profile and resides in Frankfurt with his wife and daughter.
