Sheikh Khalifa Net Worth $23 Billion
Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan is the ruler of Abu Dhabi and President of the UAE. Sheikh Khalifa's father, Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, was the main force behind the establishment of the UAE in 1971. As the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khalifa played his role as the head of the Abu Dhabi Defense Department and oversaw the buildup of ADDF, the Abu Dhabi Defense Force, which later turned up to be the nucleus of the UAE Armed Forces.
The Sheikh is also the chairman of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and his family is believed to have a fortune of $150 billion. Although Sheikh succeeded his father as the ruler of Abu Dhabi (and the President of the UAE), he immediately made some huge changes in the federal structure of the realm. Early in his reign, he authorized a 100% increase in salary for all the employees of the State. On January 4th, 2010 the tallest man made structure in Dubai (Burj Dubai) was renamed as Burj Khalifa, in honor of the Sheikh. The Sheikh is also well known for his interest in sports, especially in horse and camel races.
He is currently having a palace built in Seychelles. The Seychellois government records show that since 1995 he spent more than $2 million in buying about 66 acres of land in Mahe, which happened to be a Seychelles’ main island, an estate which soon became the palace ground of the Sheikh. The Sheikh has also made contributions in the field of health care by founding the Khalifa award for education, and has also provided financial support to a housing program in the Sheikh Khalifa city. It is also interesting and noteworthy to know that he is a major benefactor of the University of Wales. In recognition for his contributions, a building in the theology department of the University has been named after him. The Sheikh has philanthropic pedigree and makes regular contributions to various organizations and institutes from around the world. For example, in 2011, the MD Anderson Cancer Institute announced they received $150 million from the Abu Dhabi Charity.
Later, the Emirates News agency reported that the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Charity Foundation made a contribution of $150 million to the University of Texas for establishing a cancer treatment clinic. But the list of contributions provided by the Sheikh is too long, and it is proof that generosity can come from almost anywhere (even from the Ruler of Abu Dhabi, whose net worth is $23 billion).
