Parker was born in December 3, 1979 to Bruce Parker and Diane Parker in Herndon, Virginia. He went to Oakton High School for 2 years, and then transferred to Chantilly High School for his junior and senior years. At the end of his senior year at Chantilly, Parker was typically writing code and starting companies. Today, he is a renowned entrepreneur and one of the youngest billionaires in the world. He is featured on the Forbes billionaire list with an estimated net worth of $2.1 billion as of September 2013.

At the age of 19, Parker co-founded Napster with Shawn Fanning and launched the music-sharing service in June 1999. One year after its launch, Napster had tens of millions of users, and it was even considered to be the fastest growing business of all time. However, this music service was vehemently opposed by recording labels in the likes of Metallica and the Recording Industry Association of America among several others. Lawsuits were filed by different industry associations and the service was finally shut down. Even so, Napster has been credited for revolutionizing the music industry and it is often considered by some to be a predecessor to Apple’s iTunes.

Parker helped develop Facebook to what it is today

At the age of 21, Parker co-founded Plaxo, which is a social networking service and an online address book that integrates with Microsoft Outlook. He served as the president of this company until 2004, when he teamed up with Mark Zuckerberg to develop the popularly known social networking site, Facebook. Parker became the founding president of Facebook, and helped in transforming the small start-up into the industry giant that the social networking site is right now. Parker has also co-founded other companies such as Spotify, Causes, Votizen and Airtime.

Parker is a managing partner at the Founders Fund, which is venture capital fund based in San Francisco that was started by Peter Thiel. Parker is also a host of the TechFellow Awards, which is a collaboration between The Founders Fund and the TechCrunch that awards 20 entrepreneurs with $100,000 each in order to invest in startups. Additionally, Parker is involved in Philanthropy, and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to charity, cancer research, water, Marijuana legalization and anti-malaria groups.

Parker is married to Alexandra Lenas, who’s a singer and songwriter. The couple has a daughter, who was born in January 2013.

  • When he was just 7 years old, his father, who’s a U.S government oceanographer, taught the young boy how to program on an Atari 800. 
  • As a teenager, his hobbies were programming and hacking. At 16, he was arrested for hacking into a Fortune 500 company’s network. He was however sentenced to community service due to the fact that he was less than 18 years old.
  • He developed a Web crawler, which earned him the top prize at the Virginia State Computer Science Fair, and was enlisted by the CIA.
  • During his senior year of high school, he was earning over $80,000 a year through a number of projects he was involved in. This was enough to convince his parents not to attend college.
