Roman Abramovich Net Worth $13.8 Billion

From his early childhood in Russia, Roman Abramovich had developed a knack for taking advantage of business opportunities. He initially began to earn money by selling stolen gasoline to members of the Soviet army unit that he participated in. Before long, he had moved on to smuggling contraband. These earnings allowed him to begin a toy company, automobile parts store and a tire company.

In addition, his first wife began a doll making business. With the success of these varied ventures, Abramovich decided to invest in other industries as well. From bodyguard services to oil, he started a wide variety of companies. Although he was charged with stealing government property, the case was dropped once he helped the government to recover the fuel.

Following these businesses, Abramovich purchased the Mekong stock company and Vector. In politics, he rose to the role of governor in Chukotka in 2000. Through his role in government, he improved the living situation of residents and housing costs. Many of these improvements were funded from his personal bank account or through one of his foundations. Altogether, Roman Abramovich has managed to accumulate an impressive net worth of $13.8 billion. This amount has enabled him to become the ninth richest man in all of Russia. With his great wealth he also purchased the Chelsea Football Club making him instantly famous around the world.
