Famous for his work as a pop musician, Ricky Martin is a native of Puerto Rico. He was born on December 24, 1971 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. At birth, his name was Enrique Martin Morales. Musically gifted, Ricky martin received his start in the music industry with the boy band, Menudo in 1984. He spent five years working with this band before he started his solo career.

In 1991, Ricky Martin released a self-titled studio album. After releasing a selection of albums in Spanish, he released a self-titled English language album. Some of his most successful albums include Sound Loaded (2000), A Medio Vivir (1995) and Vuelve (1998). Hist top songs include “Livin' La Vida Loca” and “She Bangs”. By 1994, he embarked on his television career with a spot on General Hospital. Altogether, he has a net worth that is estimated to be at $60 million. 

Ricky Martin is noted for bringing Latin pop into United States circulation with his appearance at the 41st Grammy Awards show in 1999. Through his work, he has made it easier for Latin pop artists to break into the United States marketplace. His hit song, “Livin' La Vida Loca”, managed to sell over eight million copies and was one of the top selling singles of all time. Altogether, Martin has sold more than 70 million albums. He has managed to have 95 platinum records and has played at concerts in over 60 different countries. 

His humanitarian efforts include work with Habitat for Humanity and Haiti relief. To support disadvantaged children, Martin found the Ricky Martin Foundation. In addition, he has worked with the Savera Foundation, and the RMF Summer Camp. He has been recognized for his humanitarian efforts with awards like the Leadership in the arts Award and the International Humanitarian Award.
