Hong Kong’s Lee Shau Kee is worth $19.6 billion. He is the richest real estate tycoon in the world! He is the CEO of Henderson Land Group, which has a market cap of $15.09 billion. But Kee needs to watch out. His wealth has decreased over the last year due to a hike in property taxes in Hong Kong.

2. Cheng Yu-tung - Net Worth $16.2 Billion

Another of Hong Kong’s real estate billionaires, Cheng Yu-tung, is worth $16.2 billion. This 88-year old had a stroke in 2012 and thus handed over his company, New World Development, to his son Henry.  Cheng is no longer actively involved in his real estate companies, but in his old age he is enjoying the wealth those companies brought him. 

3. Wang Jianlin - Net Worth $15.1 Billion

Wang is the 3rd richest real estate tycoon in the world, and also the richest person from China. He has a net worth of $15.1 billion. Wang came from a poor family, but built his way up to becoming the chairman of Dalian Wanda Group which is currently China’s largest commercial property developer. 

4. Donald Bren - Net Worth $14.4 Billion

Donald Bren of the USA has a net worth of $14.4 billion and is the richest real estate developer in the U.S.A.  He owns Irvine Co. which owns both commercial and residential property. Most of his real estate is in California which is currently highly beneficial for him because of California’s escalating property prices. 

5. Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor - Net Worth $13 Billion

Gerald, the richest real estate tycoon from the U.K, has a net worth of $13 billion. He owns 190 acres across the road from Buckingham Palace. It makes you wonder if he ever pops into the palace to have tea with the Queen? Jokes aside, he formerly had the title of the 6th Duke of Westminster, and his son Earl is one of Prince George’s godparents. Grosvenor Group owns real estate all over the world.

6. Thomas and Raymond Kwok - Net Worth $12.6 Billion

These brothers have a combined net worth of $12.6 billion. Their father founded SHK Properties which they inherited after their father’s death in 1990. 

7. David and Simon Reuben - Net Worth $11.5 Billion

Simon and David are another team of two brother who have a combined net worth of $11.5 billion. They are the second wealthiest people in the U.K. who don’t just have their fingers in the real estate industry. However, their real estate business certainly brings them the most income. 

8. Robert and Phillip Ng - Net Worth $11 Billion

Robert and Phillip who have a net worth of $11 billion, inherited their real estate business form their late father. Hotels, condos, malls, and private estates, are just a few of the developments they are involved in. They own Sydney’s Clocktower Square, as well as the Harbour Tower Center in Perth. These two properties combined are worth $247 million. And that’s just a fraction of what they own!

9. Joseph Lau - Net Worth $8.8 Billion

Lau, from Hong Kong, is the 9th wealthiest real estate tycoon and has a net worth of $8.8 billion. He owns more than 60% of Chinese Estates.

10. Peter Woo - Net Worth $7.2 Billion

Woo, also from Hong Kong, has a net worth of $7.2 billion. His main commercial real estate in Wharf, runs most of Hong Kong’s shopping malls, as well as Time Square and Harbour City. 

Isn’t it crazy to see how much money real estate tycoons are worth? The only consolation is that they actually all have worked very hard to make or maintain their wealth.
