Who are the richest black people in the world? Interestingly, most of the black billionaires do not come from the richest countries in the world. Most of them are based in Africa with only Oprah Winfrey from the United States. Below is a list of the richest black man and woman in the world.

Aliko Dangote - The Richest Black Person In The World.

1. Aliko Dangote, $20.8 billion

Aliko Dangote who hails from Nigeria is currently the richest black person on the planet. He is also Africa's richest man. Dangote is invovled in sugar, cement and flour indusitry.

2. Mohammed Al-Amoudi, $13.5 billion

Mohammed Al-Amoudi who is from Saudi Arabia is the second richest black person. Formerly the richest black person, he took the second spot after overtaken by Aliko Dangote. Al-Amoudi is the son of a Saudi father and Ethiopian mother. He has his hands on oil, hotels and also gold mines.

3 Folorunsho Alakija $7.3 Billion

Folorunsho Alakija is a Nigerian oil tycoon. She is now the richest black woman in the world having taken over Oprah Winfrey with an estimated fortune of $7.3 billion.

4. Mike Adenuga, $4.7 billion

Adenuga's Conoil Producing Limites is one of Nigeria's largest oil exporters. The tycoon also owns Globalcom which is the country's second largest mobile phone network. Adenuga initially made his fortune handling large construction contracts for Nigeria's military government in the 1980s.

5. Patrice Motsepe, $2.9 billion

Patrice Motsepe is South Africa's first black billionaire. He is also the country's only black billionaire. His company African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) has interests in nickel, chrome, iron, coal, copper, gold and other minerals.

6. Oprah Winfrey, $2.8 billion

Famous for her tv shows, Oprah  is still the only African American billionaire. She is the founder of HARPO her entertainment company. Oprah is well known for her philanthropic work especially with girls in South Africa. She has spent about $100 million building the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa.

7. Isabel Dos Santos, $2 billion

Isabel Dos Santos is the daughter of Angolan president, Jose Eduardo dos Santos. She has stakes in several Angolan and Portuguese companies as well as a large stake amounting to $1 Billion in Unitel, an Angolan mobile phone company.

8. Mo Ibrahim, $1.1 billion

Mo Ibrahim is a British billionaire who was born in Sudan. The billionaire founded Celtel, a mobile phone ocmpanye and sold it in2005 for $3.4 Billion, pocketing $1.4 Billion. He now devotes his time to philanthropy and investing in Africa.

9. Michael Lee-Chin $1 Billion

Michael Lee Chin is a Jamaican-born Canadian businessman. He is the founder of Portland Holdings which owns companies that are involved in tourism, health care telecommunications, media and financial service.

10. Michael Jordan $650 million

Michael Jordan is a basketball legend and perhaps the greatest player in the history of the game. The basketball star has numerous lucrative endorsements. He is also the majority owner and chairman of the Charlotte Bobcats.
