Reinold Geiger is an Austrian entrepreneur and self-made billionaire. He serves as the Chief Executive Officer of L’Occitanne, which is a highly successful French cosmetics retailer. He assumed the role of CEO in the year 1994 and has maintained this position ever since. Before becoming the CEO of L’Occitanne, Geiger had begun his career in packaging. He had already founded and developed a packaging company known as AMS Packaging SA.

This company focused on packaging for the high-end cosmetics and perfumes market. In 1992, Geiger made a decision to leave AMS Packaging and opted to invest in companies that were dilapidating, one of them being L’Occitanne. The moment he became the CEO of this cosmetics retailer, the company started to grow tremendously and it has since become an international empire that has over 1,500 outlets. Its natural Provence-made perfumes and creams became increasingly popular, especially in Japan and China.
By 1996, Geiger had invested heavily in L’Occitanne, becoming the company’s largest shareholder. In 1998, Geiger was given the “INSEAD Entrepreneur of the Year” award for his international development strategy of his company. He is currently one of the wealthiest people in Austria with an estimated self-made fortune of $1.7 billion.
