Paul McCartney was born in 1942 in Liverpool. His mother, Mary Mohin, worked as a nurse in a local hospital. His father, on the other hand, was a cotton salesman in addition to being a pianist in a local band.

Growing up, Paul McCartney’s father encouraged him to play musical instruments. It is a no-brainer Paul heeded his father’s advice. He is a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to show business. He is a songwriter, musician, film producer, and a multi-instrumentalist.  

Paul’s musical Journey began in the 1950’s when he Joined John Lennon’s band the Quarrymen. In 1960, the band settled for a new name The Beatles and rounded up new members: George Harrison, Pete Best, Stuart Sutcliffe and George Harrison. Paul started his legendary career as a bass player in the Beatles.

Together, they toured Germany where they would play in nightclubs. By mid 1960, the Beatles had taken the music world by storm. Their entry and success in the music world led fans to develop an intense frenzy and craze for the band, which was coined Beatlemania. Paul was credited with writing songs that became a major hit, which included Hello Goodbye, Two of Us and Yesterday. The English rock band produced over 200 songs with record-breaking albums and singles.

The disbanding of The Beatles in 1970 came as a shock to the showbiz world. Numerous reasons were attributed to their break up including the death of their then manager Brian Epstein. The break up did not dull Paul’s shine.

Later in 1970, Paul released his first single album - Paul McCartney, which rocked the US charts for three weeks. He later formed his band “wings” which came to win two Grammy awards. Paul took a break from the music scene in 1980 after his former bandmate and close friend, John Lennon, was shot dead.

It’s also in the same year that Paul was arrested in Tokyo for being in possession of Marijuana but was later released. He made a comeback to his musical career in 1982.He continued to shake the world with his vocal talent. 

Paul McCartney has received several lofty awards in his career as a musician. He has made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for being the most successful songwriter. In 1997, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for his contribution to music. The 72-year-old continues to be a benchmark for legendary and upcoming musicians. The sassy rock star has an net worth estimated at $650 million
