Nathan Kirsh is a South African born business mogul who has an estimated net worth of $3.7 billion. He is a citizen of Swaziland and his property empire is spread across the United States, Swaziland and Australia.
Although he has a Swazi passport, he also has residency status in the UK & US. He started his business endeavors from Swaziland where he established a corn milling business way back in 1958.
Nathan expanded the business into wholesale food distribution in South Africa which was still reeling under the apartheid regime. Gradually he expanded into supermarkets and commercial property investments.
But 49% of the company was soon bought by an insurance company in South Africa that reached an agreement on behalf of the company to build a number of shopping malls that were totally nonviable. No wonder, Nathan was totally bankrupt.
The bulk of the present fortune of Nathan comes from Jetro Holdings. It operates the Jetro Cash & Carry outlets and the Restaurant Depots in the NYC area. The firm is basically concerned with supplying wholesale goods to restaurants & small stores.
Jetro, in fact, enjoys a monopoly in providing goods to the smaller stores in New York. Nathan is widely revered for his charitable work which is mainly concentrated in Swaziland. He has helped more than 10,000 people to start small businesses. He and his wife Frances Herr have three children and Nathan now resides in London.
