Mortimer Zuckerman is an American real estate mogul and investor. He is the co-founder, Chairman and CEO of Boston Properties, a real estate company that currently owns properties in Washington, San Francisco, Princeton, New York and Boston. The company was established in 1970 and it became public in 1997. According to Forbes, Zuckerman is the 258th richest person in the United States and the 731st richest person in the world with an estimated net worth of $2.4 billion (as of March 2014).
Zuckerman served as the Chief Executive Officer of REIT until he stepped down in April 2013. He however maintained his position as Executive Chairman of the company. This self-made billionaire is also a publisher of the US News & World Report and New York Daily News. He was the former owner of the Atlantic Monthly and Fast Company. Zuckerman has also been considered an influential player in politics and a political hopeful.
Besides being renowned for his business acumen, Zuckerman’s philanthropic efforts have also earned him a great reputation. He pledged a $200 million donation to Columbia University for its Mind, Brain and Behavior Institute, which is mainly focused on researching diseases of the brain such as Alzheimer’s. Zuckerman is also an avid art collector, who has contemporary tastes. The 76-year old billionaire is divorced with three children, and resides in New York.
