At one point of time the Holtzbrinck Group experienced a very tough time that led to a significant fall in the net worth of Monika Schoeller. In 2012 her net worth declined by almost $1 billion as there was a corresponding 40% decline in the net worth of Holtzbrinck Group.

At present Monika is the head of the S.Fischer Verlag which is a book publishing company that was founded way back in 1886. She is married to Bernd Schoeller and has 1 child. She lives in Stuttgart with her family.
