Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir is a prominent Bangladesh political leader, civil servant, economist and writer. He currently serves as the Minister of Home Affairs in the country, and he has an estimated net worth of $400 million. He started his professional career in the year 1962, when he joined the University of Dhaka’s economics faculty. He lectured at the university till 1965 and later on joined the civil service. He served in various positions for a total of thirty-two years.

During the times when the Awami League was in power, Alamgir was appointed to political positions n the 90s. In his capacity as a leading opponent of the Bangladesh National Party, he was detained and tortured. His release from detention came as a result of international intervention.
