She is the daughter and the sole heir to a woman who was considered to be one of the wealthiest and most influential women in Argentina. This is a cement company that was established by her deceased step father, Alfredo Fortabat, in the year 1926. Maria’s mother inherited the cement business after her husband passed away in 1976. During the many decades in which Loma Negra has been in operation, the company has become a national leader in concrete and cement production. Regrettably, the company was largely affected by large foreign debts and family mismanagement.

In 2005, Loma Negra was sold off to a Brazilian group known as Comargo Correa and it was valued at $1 billion US dollars. Even so, the inheritance that Maria Ines De Lafuente Lacroze got from her mother was estimated to be about $902 million. Maria also inherited a number of art collections valued at over $200 million. According to Forbes Magazine, Maria’s current net worth is estimated to be $1.2 billion.
