The actress is widely labeled as Xena owing to her popularity as Xena in the widely successfully TV series Xena: Warrior Princess. The series lasted for 6 seasons and it quickly catapulted Lucy’s status to superstardom. She had become an international phenomenon now.
Apart from her role in Xena, Lucy has also gotten opportunities to star in other series namely the Battlestar Galactica series and the Spartacus series. Most recently, she had a recurring role in Parks and Recreation.
The actress became a mother for the first time while still a teenager. She got pregnant aged 19 with Garth Lawless’s child. After that, the couple quickly married only to divorce later in 1995. It was only after 3 years since her divorce did Lucy find her soul mate in Robert Tapert. The couple married in early 1998 and welcomed sons, Julius Robert Bay Tapert and Judah Miro Tapert, in 1999 and 2002 respectively.
Lucy got her first break in the New Zealand comedy series Funny Business. In order to polish her acting talents, the actress enrolled herself at the William Davis Center For Actors Study in Vancouver, Canada.
She has appeared in several gay parades to show her support for the gay community and was once even considered a lesbian icon. The actress has also honed her singing talents throughout her career.
After appearing as a contestant on the show Celebrity Duets, the actress/ singer made her singing debut at the Roxy in 2007 to a sold-out crowd. Her dream was to be an opera singer but she knew it wouldn’t land her the $15 million she has right now.
