Liu Yongxing

Liu Yongxing is a Chinese entrepreneur and a self-made billionaire. In 2013, Forbes listed him as the 10th richest person in China after Wang Jianlin, Zong Qinghou, Robin Li, Li Hejun, Ma Huateng, Wei Jianjun, Yang Huiyan, Jack Ma, and He Xiangjian. The magazine estimated his net worth to be $6.1 billion.

Yongxing was also chosen to appear on the cover of the Forbes Global published on March 18. The magazine also carried articles that gave an insight on how the Liu brothers became successful in becoming some of the richest people in China. Their road to riches is well documented in a small museum that was built by the brothers in Gujia village, on the grounds of the first feed mill they built. Photographers display photos of the Liu brothers examining supplies and posing with renowned leaders from China and from across boarders, such as Bill Clinton, Jacques Chiraq, Jiang Zemin and Tony Blair. Forbes ranks, Yongxing’s brother, Liu Yonghao, as the 30th richest person in China.

Business Endeavors

In 1982, Liu, together with his three brothers, started selling bicycles and watches to raise capital. They established a small business that specialized in raising chicks and quails. The business grew and in 20 years time, it had turned into an enterprise for animal fodder. The brothers worked together and founded the Hope Research Center in 1986. They continued their business methods and set up a new business in the early 1990s with Chengdu Hope Group. In 1995, the Liu brothers went their separate ways.

After the Liu brothers split up, Yongxing established the Hope Oriental Corporation and assumed the position of Chairman. In the same year (1995) Yongxing established the Strong Group and also assumed the role of Chairman. In 2001, Forbes Magazine named the Liu Brothers as the top entrepreneurs in China with their then fortune of over $8 billion.
