Liliane Bettencourt, the world’s 3rd richest woman, enjoys a net worth of $33.2 billion. She is a well known businesswoman, a philanthropist, a socialite and a French heiress. Her main source of wealth is L’Oreal where she and her family own more than 30% share. The company was actually founded by her father. She is also a shareholder in Nestle and co-founded the much respected Bettencourt Schueller Foundation to promote scientific research and humanitarian projects.
The 91 year old widow suffers from dementia and was replaced on the board by her young grandson, Jean-Victor Meyers in February last year. Her immense fortune is under the strict guardianship of her only daughter, Francoise Bettencourt-Meyers.
