Larry Bird Net Worth Is $50 Million
Larry Bird is an Indiana-born retired professional basketball player, who played for Boston Celtics for 13 seasons. He was a multitalented wing man who played the power forward and small forward positions. He currently serves as the team president of the Indiana Pacers of the NBA (National Basketball Association). Larry was born on December 7, 1956 in West Baden, Indiana, and grew up in a poor family. Basketball provided him with an escape from his family troubles, and he managed to become an all-time scoring leader in his school. Over the years, his prowess in basketball has earned him both fame and fortune. Today, his net worth is estimated to be $50 million.
His pro-playing career started in 1979, when he was drafted by the Boston Celtics. During his career as a professional basketball player, he became a 12-time NBA All-Star, a 3-time NBA MVP and a 3-time NBA Champion. Larry also became the only basketball player in the NBA to be named as the Most Valuable Player of the Year, Executive of the Year and Coach of the Year. Even though Larry was one of the greatest basketball players in the NBA history, he only earned a trivial $26 million in salary during the entire duration of his career. He retired as a player in the year 1992 due to chronic back problems.
Larry became the coach of the Indiana Pacers in 1997, and clearly stated that he would assume that position for 3 years. Even though he didn’t have prior coaching experience, he led his team to victory in the 1997-1998 season, and was even named the NBA Coach of the Year. At the end of the 2000 season, he resigned as the Pacers coach. Three years later, he returned as the President of the Basketball Operations of the Indiana Pacers. Larry is married to Dinah Mattingly, with whom he has two adopted children, Mariah and Connor. Larry also has a biological daughter, Corrie, from his first marriage.
