The Singapore based business tycoon, who is in his seventies owns several businesses, including City Development Limited, Milliennium & Copthorne, Hong Leong Finance and Millennium & Copthorne.
Kwek Leng Beng is the son of the late Kwek Hong Png who left China as a penniless teenager for Singapore. He founded the Hong Leong Group in 1963 as a building materials trading company and established himself as a successful businessman. Kwek Leng Beng became the chairman of Hong Leong Group in 1990 and continued to lead the company to new heights of success.
Today the company operates a wide range of businesses, including banking and financial services, manufacturing and distribution, hospitality and leisure, and property development and investments. The City Developments which is managed by Kwek Leng Beng’s brother Kwek Leng Kee is the second-largest property developer in the Singapore after Far East Organization.
