An American of Armenian descent, Kourtney Kardashian is by all means one of America’s most recognizable faces. Although hard to believe, she attended a catholic all-girls school as a teenager and later joined Southern Methodist University for a two-year period. She graduated with a degree in Theatre Arts and Spanish from the University of Arizona in 2002. Her father, Robert gained notoriety as being O.J Simpson’s defense lawyer in what was regarded as “the trial of the century”. His involvement in the case led to her mother moving her children to Hidden Hills because she feared for their safety. Sadly, Robert was diagnosed with cancer and passed on in 2003.
Her career begun when she appeared in the reality television series, Filthy Rich, Cattle Drive in 2004. She later donated the proceeds to charity. Her prominence came to be when her sister Kim’s now famous sex tape was leaked to the public in 2007. Later that year, her entire family, except for Robert, was commissioned to star in the reality television series, Keeping up with the Kardashians which eventually proved so successful that a number of spin-offs came about such as Kourtney and Kim take New York and Kourtney and Kim take Miami.
Together with her mother, Kourtney has opened clothing boutiques and with her two sisters, she operates the D-A-S-H clothing boutique in three cities; Los Angeles, Miami and New York City. She has also released a clothing line for Bebe and she’s stated her and her sisters’ involvement with the K-Dash clothing line. Their products were sold on the popular shopping channel QVC.
She has dabbled in writing when together with her sisters, published the book Kardashian Confidential in 2010. Her acting debut came about in 2011 when she appeared as a guest in the soap One Life to Live where she played an attorney. This performance, however, was met with negative reviews from critics.
Being the celebrity she is, Kourtney is not without endorsements. She is a spokeswoman for QuickTrim where, in 2012, she and her sisters faced a class action lawsuit where they were accused of false advertising of the product. She also represents Perfectskin, which is a skin care company. The Kardashian sisters recently launched a jewelry line for the company Virgins, Saints and Angels.
Kourtney became a mother in 2009 when she gave birth to Mason Dash Disick and later, in 2012, Penelope Scotland Disick. These bundles of joy were a result of her relationship with Scott Disick, who she met in 2007. In 2014, it was widely reported that Kourtney and Scott plan to get married. Her fame and fortune can be attributed to her personality and business savvy nature and she sits comfortably with a net worth of $18 million.
