King Mswati III
Rich Swaziland King Who
Abduct Girls For Marriage

Published on March 31 2014

King Mswati III, the head of the Swazi Royal Family, is the current King of Swaziland and he has an estimated net worth of $100 million. He has been the king for 24 long years and is well known across the world for his larger-than-life lifestyle. Unfortunately his lifestyle and habits is in direct contrast with the economic condition of his country which is, simply said, one of the poorest in the world.

King Mswati III is the last monarch of the African continent who assumed the throne at a young age of 18. He wields a tight control on opposition and oversees a constitution that bans political parties although his government claims otherwise. He has been severely criticized for his occasional shopping splurges. In fact, in 2009 nine out of his fourteen wives spent a whopping $6 million overseas solely on shopping. This incident was strongly condemned by the media and there were widespread protests.

Swaziland is in a deep crisis situation as there is a receipt shortfall for the government and as per reports, close to 70% of the population lives below the poverty line. The percentage of unemployment has reached 40% and sadly, 25% of the sexually active population in the country is infected with HIV. The Swazi King has been accused time and again by Amnesty International for breaching human rights and for abducting girls whom he desires to marry.
