Karen Pritzker is an American national, who has an estimated net worth of $3.7 billion. Her main source of fortune was her inheritance, which derives from her family that includes 11 billionaires. Her grandfather, A.N. Pritziker (who died in 1986) had built an industrial conglomerate known as Marmon, as well as a hotel chain known as Hyatt, with his sons Donald (d. 1972), Jay (d. 1999) and Robert (d. 2011), who is Karen’s father.
Together with her husband Michael Vlock, (who’s also an investor), Karen held unto her stake and also branched out. They also invested in buy-and-hold stocks. Karen is also renowned for her philanthropist efforts, as she has donated millions of dollars towards various charities. Her major donations include a $20 million donation to Yale, which was meant for building a medicine school, a $5 million donation to “Teach for America Organization”, and a $45 million donation to the network for teaching entrepreneurship among others.
