Karen Black was an American actress who made her mark in the movie industry with performances in Easy Rider, Five Easy Pieces, The Great Gatsby, Airport, The Day of the Locust, Nashville, Family Plot and Capricorn One. The closest she came to winning an Academy Award was when she received a nomination in 1971
for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Jack Nicholson’s waitress girlfriend in the movie Five Easy Pieces.
She won 2 Golden Globe Awards during her stint in Hollywood. Karen made her debut in the movie The Prime Time in 1960 and it was only after 6 years since her debut when she received her first big break in You’re a Big Boy Now.
Most recently, she was seen in the movies House of 1000 Corpses and Firecracker. The multi talented entertainer was a renowned screenwriter, singer and songwriter too. Karen Black tied the knot 4 times in her life.
She has a son, Hunter Carson, to show for her marriage to L.M. Kit Carson. She also adopted a daughter, Celine, when she was married to Stephen Eckelberry.
Karen is unfortunately not with us anymore; she was diagnosed with cancer and she lost her battle with the dreaded disease on August 8, 2013 in Los Angeles at age 74.
