Born on April 16, 1947, Kareem Abdul-Jabber’s birth name was Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor, Jr. He changed his name later in life in recognition of his Muslim heritage and religion. He was initially born in New York. During his career, he won three different NCAA Championships. Due to this string of success, he was admitted into the National Collegiate Hall of Fame by 2007.
