Juan Roig is a Valencian entrepreneur and billionaire. He has a net worth of $5.5 billion and is the third wealthiest person in Spain. Juan Roig is the president of Mercadona, the largest grocery store chain founded by his parents in 1977. Mercadona has over the years continued to defy Spain’s prevailing financial crisis. Its low cost strategy during periods of hard economic slumps enabled the business to not only capture a 22% market share, but also helped many Spanish families get through the squeeze.
The company due to its immense growth has employed over 73000 people the majority being female employees.
