Jim Pattison (born James Allen “Jim” Pattison on October 1, 1928) is a Canadian business mogul and philanthropist. He is currently the 5th richest person in Canada with an estimated net worth of $7.2 billion. He serves as the President, Chief Executive Officer, Chairman and Managing Director of Jim Pattison Group, which is considered to be Canada’s largest privately-owned companies. His company owns TV and radio stations in British Columbia, Overwaitea Foods and Save-On-Foods, Guinness World Records, Alberta and a number of car dealerships.

Pattison is also a former owner of the Vancouver Blazers of the World Hockey Association. He also owns a 30% stake in Canfor, and he has acquired shares (about 11%) of Just Energy Group, which is a natural gas and electricity reseller. On February 2008, they announced the acquisition of the GWR Organization, which is renowned for its Guinness World Records franchise. In February 2012, his company purchased CoMaga, a U.S. magazine distributor that was co-owned by Hearst and Conde Nast.
Besides being renowned as a highly successful businessman, Pattison is also recognized and honored in a number of ways. He is a member of the Order of British Columbia, as well as an Officer of the Order of Canada. During the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, he was actively involved with the committee that organized the event. Pattison is married to Mary Pattison, with whom he has three children.
