Jeffrey S Skoll or popularly known as Jeff Skoll is a Canadian internet entrepreneur, engineer, film producer and philanthropist. He was born on January 16, 1965 in Montreal, Quebec, and he is currently the 8th richest person in Canada with an estimated net worth of $4.9 billion. His journey to financial success began in 1996 when he became the first president of eBay, an internet auction firm that was founded by Pierre Omidyar.

While working at eBay, Skoll wrote the franchise’s business plan that was followed from its inception as a start-up, to a successful firm. He remained President until January 1998 and became the company’s Vice President, Strategic Planning and Analysis. In the same year, he championed the formation of the eBay Foundation. Skoll became eBay’s 2nd largest shareholder, but he later on cashed out his $2 billion worth of stock.
Skoll’s career in film production has also been a great success as well. He is the founder, owner and Chairman of Participant Media, which is a Los Angeles-based media company. He established the company to fund feature films as well as documentaries that uphold social values while still being commercially feasible. In addition, Skoll is a renowned philanthropist who has been honored numerous times for his generosity. He established the Skoll Foundation in 1999, and has given not less than $1 billion to it. The foundation is the world’s largest foundation for social entrepreneurship.
