Jay Leno Net Worth Revealed

Jay Leno, the American stand-up comedian and TV host, has an estimated net worth of $350 million. He also has a regular annual income of $15 million. He earns the bulk of his earnings from ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ that is aired on NBC. But trade analysts estimate that he actually makes an additional $20 million from his stand-up comedy gigs across the US. It is believed that he has hardly spent any money that he has earned from his NBC show as he prefers to live off on his comedy tours. There is little doubt that he is one of the most popular TV hosts in the US.

Jay started his career by doing comedy acts in night clubs and then in 1977 he made his TV debut with the Tonight Show. He started his full-time career in comedy in 1973 and very soon people realized that he had the ability to attract a large number of viewers. Jay was the 1st choice for the substitute to Johnny Carson for the NBC lathe night program. In 1992 he took over permanently from Carson and he made a total of $1 million in that year. By 1994 he was earning around $3 million from TV alone and in 2009 when he first retired he was worth more than $22 million. He returned in 2010 and increased his earnings to $24 million through a refurbished ‘The Tonight Show’.

Jay Leno has put a huge bulk of his money into his hobby of collecting motorcycles and cars which are antique in nature. He has an impressive collection of 90 bikes and more than 100 cars which are collectively valued at $50 million. On the personal front, he married his wife Mavis Nicholson in 1980. However, the couple does not have any children by ‘mutual agreement’. They live in Los Angeles where Nicholson is a script writer.
