How Rich Is Jackie Collins? : Jackie Collins Is Worth $200 Million
She is the queen of erotic fiction. A writer who digs dip in the seedy world of entertainment and chronicles it inside out. Born in 1937, Jackie Collins is the daughter to Joseph Collins, who was once a highly successful theatrical agent before his death in 1988.
Her elder sister, Joan Collins, is a renowned actress famous for her timeless beauty and age-defying looks. Jackie spent her formative years in Maida Vile. She attended Francis Holland School but was later expelled for playing truant and breaking school rules.
Prior to making a breakthrough in the writing industry, Jackie had tried her hand in acting. Unfortunately, her acting career did not peak off, and she often felt overshadowed by her sister, Joan. She decided to take up writing and in 1968, her debut novel The World is Full of Married Men was published. The book was banned in Australia and South Africa for its obscenity but in the US and UK the book was shooting up in sales.
In 1969, Jackie pitched her second novel The stud. Romance novelist Barbara Cartland was quoted saying the novel was “filthy, disgusting and unnecessary”. Once again, Jackie’s book rose above the criticism and became a sensational bestseller.
Jackie continued to spin steamy tales, and so far, she has 29 novels under her belt. Her subsequent novels have received criticism but with over 500 million copies sold worldwide, the negative critics seemingly bolster her sales.
Besides being a prolific novelist, Jackie is also a firm supporter of the AIDS Project Los Angeles a non-profit AIDS service Organization that provides prevention education and leadership on HIV/AIDS. Jackie has more books on the horizon, and we can only expect her to continue sweeping her readers with her spicy page-turners. The fictional heroine has amassed an impressive net worth of $200 million.
