Hugo Chavez Net Worth $1 Billion
Hugo Rafael Chavez Frias was the mighty military ruler of Venezuela, a person who was loved, despised, feared and respected all at the same time. He was born on July 28, 1954 in Sanbaneta, Venezuela. At the age of 17, Hugo got enrolled in the Venezuelan Academy of Military Sciences. Hugo worked his way through the esteemed academy and in the year 1975 he graduated as a sub-lieutenant with a degree in Military Arts and Sciences.
Hugo was a multi-talented genius. Along with being an officer in the national army, he also held a plethora of teaching positions. His military career of 17 years saw him rise from the position of a Second Lieutenant to Lieutenant Colonel. Hugo held the famous Revolutionary Bolivarian Movement and in the year 1998 he began to campaign for the presidency. Hugo won the presidential election in 1998 with 56% vote.
Chavez was an excellent speaker; his forte was the poor and working class people of Venezuela. He was able to mingle with the common mass and his political motto was to work for the poor and eradicate poverty. "What hurts me most is poverty, and that's what led me to become a rebel," this was what Chavez said during a 2007 interview with The Associated Press. Hugo married twice and divorced twice, he had four children and four grandchildren. However the person who always talked about the interests of the poor was found to have amassed about $1 billion to $2 billion. Reports from the risk assessment and global analysis firm Criminal Justice International Associates (C.J.I.A) alleges that the Chavez family and hundreds of other associates have stolen one-tenth of the $1 trillion raked in by Venezuela since 1999 in oil sales. Mr. Jerry Brewer, the head of the C.J.I.A, said that since Hugo rose to power in 1999, he and his family forged an unholy alliance with criminal organizations and appropriated more than $100 billion until his death on the 5th of March 2013.
