Born in Oxford, Hugh Laurie is famous for his work as a musician and actor. At different points in time, he has also worked as a comedian. During the 1990s, he was a part of films like “The Man in the Iron Mask” and  “Sense and Sensibility”.  By 2004, he received his first big break. Offered a role on “House M.D.”, Hugh Laurie became the iconic Dr. House. This show went on to win multiple shows and became one of his best-known projects. For each episode of House, Hugh Laurie is paid $700,000.  In addition to this television series, he has written a book called, “The Gun Seller”.

Afterward, he attended Eton private school. His education at this school and family tradition led him to enroll at Selwyn College, Cambridge. At university, he studied archeology and anthropology while spending his after school hours as an oarsman.

After suffering from mononucleosis, Hugh stopped rowing and joined the Cambridge Footlights. This drama club was where he met Emma Thompson and Stephen Fry. Stephen Fry later became his comedy partner and a close friend. His work with Cambridge Footlights led to a role on the comedy show, Alfresco. From the 1980s to the 1990s, Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry worked on shows like Blackadder, A Bit of Fry & Laurie and Peter's Friends. In 1989, Hugh Laurie married  Jo Green. Together, they have two sons and a daughter together.
