Picture this: hulking, grownup men wear oversized shorts to work and sweat profusely yet have scores of adoring female fans think they look red-hot sexy.  And to think many NBA fans the world over would probably trade their grandmothers to be Kobe Bryant or LeBron James for a day. Here’s a list of the Top 10 Highest Paid Basketball Stars who earn more in any given year than their coat-and-tie-clad counterparts can dream of in a lifetime. 

Kobe Bryant Earnings $59.8 Million 

Los Angeles Lakers’ pride Kobe Bryant is the highest paid basketball player in the world.  His estimated combined salary and earnings from endorsements this year alone amount to $59.8 million making him one of the richest basketball players in the world.  The 35-year-old, 6’6” five-time NBA champion has lucrative endorsement deals with Nike, Coca-Cola, Mercedes-Benz, and Turkish Air, among others.

LeBron James Earnings $57.6 Million 

Nicknamed “The Chosen One” in high school because of his talent for basketball, LeBron James commands a whopping $57.6 million both on and off the court. The Miami Heat’s forward endorses Nike, Samsung, Coca-Cola and McDonald’s.

Derrick Rose Earnings $32.4 Million 

Chicago Bulls’ point guard Derrick Rose is third on the list of highest paid basketball players in the world. The 25-year-old, who became the youngest MVP at age 22, earns $32.4 million a year from his games as well as endorsement contracts with Adidas.

Dwyane Wade Earnings $30.2 Million 

Chicago native Dwyane Wade, nicknamed “Flash” or “D-Wade”, makes mega bucks playing for Miami Heat and endorsing China’s Li Ning sports shoes and apparel.  The three-time NBA champion’s deal with the company includes an equity stake.

Kevin Durant Earnings $29.7 Million 

Oklahoma City Thunder’s forward Kevin Durant earned raves when he donated $1 million to tornado victims in Oklahoma.  The 6’9” four-time NBA All Star champion can very well afford such a huge donation, what with a total earnings of $29.7 million a year.  He endorses Nike, Sprint, Gatorade, 2K Sports and Panini.

Carmelo Anthony Earnings $28.4 Million 

New York Knicks’ small forward Carmelo Anthony kick-started his NBA career in 2003.  Fast forward 10 years and the 6’8” six-time NBA All Star champ now commands a salary of $19.4 million a year on top of the $9 million he pockets as one of the famous faces of Nike.

Amar’e Stoudemire Earnings $27.9 Million 

Amar’e Stoudemire complains that the media often gets his name wrong but one thing he can’t complain about is his salary. The New York Knicks’ power forward commands a jaw-dropping $27.9 million a year playing for his team and endorsing Nike.

Dwight Howard Earnings $26.5 Million 

Born to a mother who previously had seven miscarriages, Dwight Howard is a born survivor.  After several tumultuous years which saw him leaving Orlando Magic for Los Angeles Lakers, being hampered by injuries, and getting distracted by custody battles with an ex, Dwight is now with Houston Rockets and earns an estimated $26.6 million a year.

Chris Paul Earnings $24.8 Million 

Los Angeles Clippers’ point guard Chris Paul inked a five-year deal with the team that translates to $107 million. Annually, he earns an estimated $24.8 million from his games and endorsement commitments with Nike, Powerade and Upper Deck.

Pau Gasol Earnings $21.5 million 

Let’s face it: Spanish-born Pau Gasol who towers at 7 feet tall would probably be considered a freak elsewhere but on the court he is a formidable force. The Los Angeles Lakers’ power forward and four-time NBA All Star champion commands an enviable $21.5 million a year by playing and lending his star power to the likes of Nike, Banco Popular and EA Sports.
