Henry Samueli is an American businessman and philanthropist. He is the co-founder, Chief Technology Officer and Chairman of the board of Broadcom Corporation. He is also the owner of the Anaheim Ducks and serves as a professor at UCLA School of engineering. 

Samueli’s current net worth is estimated at $2 billion, and he has been ranked by Forbes as the 326th richest person in the United States. 

Samueli was born on 20th September, 1954 to Polish-Jewish immigrants, who arrived in the U.S with almost nothing. The family struggled and set up a liquor store in Los Angeles, where young Samueli stocked shelves.

After graduating from high school, he took a shop class at Bancroft, where his interest for electronics was incepted.  He later attended UCLA, where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree and PhD in 1975, 1976 and 1980 respectively, all in the electrical engineering field. 

In 1991, Samueli and one of his former students, Henry Nicholas, started Broadcom Corporation, whereby each raised $50,000 as capital. They took the company public three years later. In 2011, Samueli received the Dr. Morris Chang Exemplary Leadership Award, a year later he won the prestigious 2012 Marconi Prize and Fellowship.

In June 2005, he purchased Anaheim Ducks of the NHL from the Walt Disney Company for $75 million. The self-made billionaire is married to Susan Samueli, with whom he has three children.
