Heinz-Horst Deichmann is a German businessman and retailer who has an estimated net worth of $4.4 billion. At one point of time he used to head the largest shoe retailing company in Germany – Deichmann Shoes. His father, Heinrich Deichmann, founded the company in 1913. Heinz-Horst was not into business at the beginning of his career. He was an orthopedic but he gave up his practice in 1956 to take over the shoe business of his family.
Heinz-Horst Deichmann was the CEO of the company and an able leader. Under his leadership, the company became involved in the production and selling of low-cost shoes. The Deichmann shoe business completed its 100 years of existence in 2013. The daily operations of the company are now run by Henry, the only son of Deichmann. Henry is in full charge of the company since 1999.
Heinz-Horst Deichmann is a committed philanthropist and he donates millions of dollars to different humanitarian and charitable organizations. He has also launched a special program to help the leprosy patients of India. He visits the country every year to take stock of the progress made by the organization. He has been involved in a number of aid projects in the 3rd world countries. In 2005 he donated 15 million euros for the tsunami victims.
