Hassan Khosrowshahi is an Iranian-Canadian businessman and philanthropist. He and his family established the Persian Group of Companies in the year 1981. The group initially focused on real estate and retailing, but later on it diversified to entertainment and pharmaceutical industries. In 2012, Khosrwoshahi’s entrepreneurial and philanthropy efforts earned him the chance to receive the Order of British Colombia. Today, he is one of the most financially successful people in Canada with an estimated net worth of $1.01 billion.
Khosrwoshahi’s career started when he joined his family company, Minoo Industrial Group that was founded by his father, Ali Khosrowshahi. The company was one of the leading manufacturers and distributors of cosmetics, pharmaceutical and food products. In 1982, Khosrowshahi established Future Shop, an electronics retailer that expanded throughout Ontario and western Canada in the late 80s and early 90s. Later on, the chain expanded further to Atlantic Canada and Quebec.
In 2007, Khosrwoshahi became the Chairman of The Fraser Institute board of trustees. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Business Council of British Columbia. He also sits on the Leading Edge Endowment Fund board. Khosrowshahi is married to Nezhat Khosrowshahi with whom he has 2 children. The billionaire who is in his seventies resides in Vancouver, British Columbia.
