Harrison McCain was a Canadian entrepreneur and one of the co-founders of McCain Foods Limited. Harrison and his three brothers namely Robert, Wallace and Andrew founded the first factories to process potatoes and turning them into French fries. The McCain Foods business has since grown to more than 55 factories globally. Their company is also considered to be the world’s number one French fries company selling McCain Chips.

Today, the McCain family is one of the richest families in Canada. In fact, the McCains are currently ranked as the 11th richest family in the country with an estimated net worth of $3.4 billion. The McCain’s business empire was established in 1956 with the assistance of the New Brunswick government. During its first year of operation, the company had 3 employees and it produced about 1500 pounds of packaged-frozen French fries per hour.
In the early 60s, the family business had captured almost all of the Canadian frozen French fries market. Their business even transformed the area around Florenceville and turned it into one of the most prosperous areas of the province. In 1965, the brothers made a decision to spread out to England and by October 2003, their business had turned into the biggest frozen French fries maker in the world.
