George Lindemann is an American entrepreneur and a self-made billionaire. According to Forbes, he is the 171st wealthiest person in the United States and the 506th wealthiest person in the world. As of March 2014, his net worth was estimated to be $3.3 billion. Lindemann got his start in 1971, when he sold his family-held eye-care business known as Permalens. A year later, he founded a cable TV company known as Vision Cable, which he sold a decade later to the Newhouse Brothers for $220 million.
Lindemann then started a cell phone company known as Metro Mobile, which he later sold to Bell Atlantic for a whopping $2.5 billion in the year 1991. In 2012, this native New Yorker sold Southern Union, a natural gas transport company, to Kelcy Warren’s Energy Transfer. Lindemann attended the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts. This 78-year old self-made billionaire is married with three children.
