Gary Michelson is an American Investor, who has invested various surgical instruments, medical implants and operative methods. He has more than 250 U.S. patents on devices, methods and instruments for advances in orthopedic and spinal surgery, as well as over 955 issued or pending patents worldwide medical devices, operative procedures and instruments that are related to spinal disorders treatment.
Michelson was born on 14th January, 1949 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to a Jewish family. His grandmother played a vital role in bringing him up, but unfortunately he suffered a crippling spinal difficulty.
This led Michelson to be committed in enhancing the lives of those individuals that are afflicted with spinal ailments. He joined Temple University and Hahnemann Medical College, and later on joined Hahnemann Medical Hospital, where he completed his medical residency in orthopedic surgery.
He acquired fellowship training in spinal surgery at St. Luke’s Medical Center, in a joint program between the University of Texas and Baylor University.
Michelson has also been an active philanthropist, and he has contributed millions of dollars to various charitable organizations. Forbes currently listed him as the 381st richest person in the United States, with an estimated net worth of $1.5 billion. The 65-year old tycoon is married to Alya Michelson, with whom he lives with in Los Angeles.
