Born in the Netherlands, Frits Goldschmeding received his doctorate from the Free University of the Netherlands. During the 1960s, Frits Goldschmeding formed his company, Randstad Holding. This employment industry quickly grew in the Netherlands and branches were started in the United Kingdom, Belgium and Germany. By 1990, Frits Goldschmeding took the company public so it could expand quickly. By 2008, Randstad Holding decided to merge with Vedior and became the second-largest temporary work agency in the entire world.

Although Frits Goldschmeding has since retired from the industry, he still retains a 35 percent share of the company and $3.2 billion in net worth. In addition, he currently serves as the vice chairman on the supervisory board. So Goldschmeding is still partially involved with his business. Outside of his company, Goldschmeding has also worked as a professor through the Nyenrode Business University. He enjoys sailing and is married with three adult children.
According to Forbes Magazine, Frits Goldschmeding was ranked as the second richest person in the Netherlands. Out of the entire world, Frits Goldschmeding maintains a ranking as the 418th richest person. Due to his work in the Netherlands, Frits Goldschmeding was given the City of Amsterdam Gold medal in 2013.
