Eric Sprott is a Canadian precious metals-fanatic and a self-made billionaire. He has an estimated net worth of $1.01 billion, and is currently ranked among the top 100 wealthiest people in Canada. He is the Senior Portfolio Manager and Chief Executive Officer of Sprott Asset Management firm. In the recent past, Sprott claimed to hold about 90 per cent of his assets outside of Sprott Inc. shares in silver and gold.

In 2001, Sprott put up all his shares of Sprott Securities on sale to the firm’s employees. In that same year, he made a donation of $10 million to Carleton University, his alma mater. The institution proceeded to rename its business school in this selfless billionaire’s honor.
