Born in Chile, Eliodoro Matte Ossa is one of the nation's top entrepreneurs. His parents were Elidoro Matte Ossa and Maria Larrain Vial. They had started the family company through the initial purchase of a share in the Bolsa de Comercia de Santiago and work as brokers. Before long, his parents had Eliodoro, Patricia and Bernardo.
Eliodoro attended the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile for his undergraduate degree and obtained his MBA from the University of Chicago. Following this experience, he returned to Chile in order to work in the family company. Eliodoro Matte and his two siblings run the CMPC company.
Together, the three siblings are the largest shareholders in the pulp and paper production company. Eliodoro serves as the president of the business. Each of the siblings received a share in the company after their father died in 2000. Until May of 2011, Eliodoro Matte was the president of five different holding groups for the CMPC.
Since that time, he has taken a step back from these positions, but keeps some control over Empresas CMPC. All of the siblings hold stakes in telecommunication companies, the banking industry and shipping firms. Although Eliodoro's net worth changes with CMPC's stock price, he currently possesses an estimated $3.7 billion.
