Eduardo Hochschild Net Worth : $2.2 Billion
Eduardo Hochschild is a Peruvian businessman who has a net worth of $2.2 billion. He is actually the nephew of the founder of the Hochschild Group which was founded in 1911. The company is composed of Hochschild Mining & Cementos Pacasmayo. While Hochschild Mining is the silver & gold mining division of the group, the Cementos Pacasmayo is specialized in mining cement.
Hochschild Mining did not have a great 2013 as it literally struggled throughout the year. The silver output of the firm had declined drastically and the share price of the company also fell by more than 50% in the last 12 months or so. The company made an effort to reverse its fortunes by selling off $350 million in the form of bonds to fund certain projects. Hochschild Mining is on London Stock Exchange and its Chairman is Eduardo. In fact, he is also the Chairman of Cementos Pacasmayo.
Cementos Pacasmayo is the largest publicly traded cement company in Peru and its shares has been listed on the New York Stock Exchange. It is interesting to note that in 1998 Hochschild was attacked by a gunman but he survived although his father died in that incident. There was huge political unrest in Peru during that time and he was actually kidnapped by the attackers who released him around 6 days later. Hochschild still lives in Lima with his wife and four children.
