Being a Billionaire

Becoming a billionaire for Trump stemmed from his family’s lucrative real estate business, Elizabeth Trump and Son. But, his capability to create something new and attractive out of foreclosed properties gave him a name in the industry and the road to his billions was paved at the same time.

He is also famous for his lavish lifestyle like: his Rolls Royce powered jet plane with 24k gold plated accents; his name brand products are top of the line with no details spared; and he has never used the ATM machine.

Trump Organization and Trump Entertainment

Trump started his career at a real estate company that his father owns. It focused on rental housing for the middle class in Staten Island, Queens and Brooklyn.  After creating a successful turnover of investment on the foreclosed Swifton Village in Ohio, Trump moved to a more competitive real estate field—New York. He then started developing, acquiring and applied beautiful designs to structures like: Taj Mahal casino, Trump Tower of Atlantic and New York City.

From there he moved on solidifying and creating the Trump brand by entering other products and industries that have become successful like: board game, TV production, men’s wear line, beauty pageants and restaurants. Currently, Trump is also a celebrated public figure in the entertainment arena with a gross salary of $3 million per episode as host for ‘The Apprentice.’

Political Activity

In 2010, Trump had announced that he was considering running for the presidency during the 2012 elections. In a March 2011 poll conducted by NBC News, he was among the leading potential contenders for the Republican’s presidential nominee, just a point behind Mitt Romney. But, his presidential candidacy never came to life. Donald Trump tried to criticize President Obama and questioned whether his citizenship was genuine. In a speech at the White House Correspondents Dinner, Obama made fun of Trump and criticized him drawing a picture of how the White House will be if Donald Trump were president. (White House with girls in bikini) An indirect way of saying that Trump lacks moral integrity. Since then, there was not much mention from Trump of his intention to run for President.

Donald Trump is an avid fan of golf and have funded golfing charities ostentatiously like: Metropolitan Golf Association Foundation, Golf Pros Beating Cancer, Annika Sorenstam Foundation, Tiger Woods Foundation among others.

By far, the biggest charitable donation Trump has given was to the Police Athletic League and the United Way of New York City which amounted to more than $500,000. He also has his very own foundation, the Trump Foundation to which he has given donations totaling $3.5 million. But, even with all these donations and philanthropic acts, media outlets have described Trump as a stingy billionaire.

Personal Life

Donald Trump was born in Queens, New York to parents Mary Anne MacLeod and Fred Trump. He went to The Kew-Forest School and New York Military Academy where he earned academic honors and was a football varsity player.

Trump was once married to Ivana Zelnickova in 1977 and Marla Maples in 1993 but is now divorced from them. Currently, he is married to Melania Knauss and has five kids, three from his first wife, one from his second wife and the fifth child from his current wife. He also has five grandchildren.
